FOIC Volunteer Board Member Application

Serving on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Indian Creek is an incredible way to give back to your local climbing community and engage with the sport in new ways. FOIC has been around since 2005 because of volunteers keeping the mission alive! Serving on the Board is a four-year commitment, with an opportunity to renew your position following a majority vote from the board. Serving on the board requires active participation in quarterly board meetings, and other responsibilities. The Board is made up of no more than eleven members, and no less than seven members with officers to include: President; Treasurer; and Secretary.
Core Responsibilities
- Attend at least two board meetings per year (50%).
- Represent FOIC in a positive way whenever possible.
- Respond to emails pertaining to FOIC business.
- Cast your vote on local climbing area issues.
In addition, we ask that Board Members help with:
- Maintaining a social media presence.
- Engaging with land management agencies, private landholders, the climbing community, and the public when opportunities arise.
- A special project or task per year. Examples of these can include:
- Coordinating the creation of local area signage.
- Fundraising for specific projects.
- Participating/and or organizing volunteer stewardship events.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of the local climbing areas in and around Moab and Indian Creek, Utah.
- Willingness to work with different interest groups to promote responsible climbing and land stewardship.
Our Mission
The Friends of Indian Creek works with land managers to promote responsible climbing and provide resources to help alleviate recreation impacts to the region. We serve the greater Canyonlands area including Moab, Indian Creek, and everything in-between.
