Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion

JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY, & INCLUSION

The Friends of Indian Creek supports justice, equality, diversity, and inclusiveness (JEDI) on public lands and in public lands decision making.  Locally, we have supported the changing of discriminatory route names, have supported the closure of routes in direct conflict with significant archeological sites, and have worked with the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition in protecting the Bears Ears National Monument, home to the iconic rock climbing destination that gives us our name.

Within our organization, FOIC is working to diversify our board and membership through outreach.  We also educate climbers to make decisions that are sensitive to physical and cultural resources when recreating in the Greater Canyonlands region.
